the knitting podcast for the yarn obsessed

The Podcasts

Coming to you today from two different states, it's the Lime & Violet Show!

Okay, that ends my old school announcer voice for the moment. The girls are back, and yet in different states. I apologize upfront for any audio quirks that pop up, it will take a few episodes to figure out the best way to finalize the episodes with the new way that they're doing them. In any case, the girls are here, along with a few furry friends that make special guest appearances. Talks abound with yarn, patterns, projects, new organizational methods, busy busy busy people, and lots of great stories.

Music is "Depression Yesterdays" by Dylan Donkin. I don't know what it is about me lately that's really into the singer/songwriter genre, but I do so love it.

Violet is back with the Lime this time for another hour of insanity. Things aren't unpacked yet, so the microphone is hidden away, hence the quality of this episode. But be sure to know that there is content in this one! Works in progress (sweaters galore), finished objects (not one, but two!), announcements, mail call, books (I totally just typed "boobs" three times), and much much more.

Music is "Prime Meridian" by Sarah Donner.

The Violet is back, and this time she brings out the men folk.

Just a short episode this time around, but it's a good one. Recorded in the Gate City Yarns in Greensboro, NC.  Yarn, works in progress, doggies, and actual yarn porn in the bathroom. It's apparently sticky. I don't think I want to know.

Music is "The Legend of the One Honest Man" by Uphill.

Once again, this episode was recorded a little while ago, July 11th to be precise, but it's just getting up now. Sorry!

While Miss V was in NC she recorded with the darling Aimee (FunFairieGirl). They got up to lots of crazy. There are penises, rules for dating, a dog, yarn, knitting, boys, pirates at fast food stores, Miss V also talks about the Mountain Sole project, and lots more. You guys asked for a longer episode, and that's what you got. Sorry if this one takes for ever to download, but it's over 2 hours long.

Music is Jerry Forney "Women, Women, Women".

I'm all moved now, and finally sat down to edit for the first time since I got this episode which was.... before I moved. Sorry folks! Crazy busy over here. On the up side I do have kick ass job and a great room in a house filled with girls who adore my knitting. I just need to find me a man now. ;)

This episode was recorded back in the end of June, so things might be a touch out of date. Once again, sorry folks! There is boy talk, oh the boy talk. Yarn Porn. Stalking by Raccoons and Lizards. And a whole lot else. What more (or less) would you expect?!

Music is "Neckbolt Love" by Tom Smith.

The girls are here, and they're actually talking knitting... for a little while at least before they go off on tangents.

Lime is trying not to jinx relationships, hence we know there is something going on in the man (or men as it seems) department, but she doesn't say what. Stay tuned, I'm sure we'll find out later. MissV is still working on the 20Thirty sweater, but the heat is making her face melt like 1980's special effects. She has also agreed to be YentaViolet to all those in need of a man, I'd say take her up on it, but she's busy so it might make her head go BOOM. I don't think Lime wants to clean that up.

Sorry again about the logo. I really need to find a program that allows me to edit the tags AND edit the audio. I don't have the mental capacity to remember to open iTunes and edit there THEN upload. *face palm*

The girls are back! Miss them? Apparently they're on a roll in the recording world. We talk about the past, the way past, the knitting, and the kinky sex acts that go under the "whatever floats your boat" category. There is also some randomcrazyhappenstance with our Miss V and Stephen who is HizKNITS of the Y-Knit podcast. Go check it out, I like it.

Music was picked by MissViolet. Do not blame me. It was NOT me. Repeat after me now folks "Gwen did NOT pick episode 88's music". I am hence NOT responsible for the ear worm that will get you weirder looks than usual. Music is "Nipple Doctor" by Kate Janse van Rensburg. Remeber what we said? Yea. Me. NOT responsible.

Pssssst. The phrase of the day is "But, um".

Not really, I just thought it was funny the number of times that V said that phrase in this episode. Can we look forward to that in the future? Oh geeze.

It's a long one this week, but it is a catch up after all. Our Darling MissViolet recounts her trip to North Carolina, including yarn, fiber, being hit on, and the appropriate topics in the most inappropriate places which grab the attention of men in pick up trucks. Also, MissLime tells about Graduate Boy bringing her cookies and pop (or soda. I'm Canadian, I like my dialect). There is also lots of talk about marine animals. What is it with the marine animals? Or animals in general.

Music is "Rebound Boy" by Little Fish Big Pond. Most of their stuff is this type, and I love it all. DISCLAIMER: I did not pick this song to insinuate anything, it was just the one that really caught my ear.

It's a threeway. Bow chicka wow wow.

Lime, Violet, and Kumquat/Kiwi/Carin all managed to sit down and record. I must say that there is considerably more knitting content in this episode then there has been in the last few, there is also considerably less Violet..... I think those are signs of the Apocalypse right?

As per usual there is so much going on with these chickies that I can't even sum it up all nicely. Plus the cold medicine doesn't help.

Music is "Vampire in my Town" by Elsinore. I thought it was fitting considering the Twilight talk.

Sooooooo many tangents. Deep Religion, Lime's life update, Knitty Spring 09, where not to pick up boys, and much hilarity ensues in this episode.

Music is "Press Start to Continue" by Possible Oscar. You've heard them here before, and you will probably hear them here again. Anyone who can do a song about Captain Mal will always hold a special place in my heart.

PS. I apologize for not getting the logo into the episode so it shows up on your ipods, I'm fighting a cold, and even editing this took way longer than it should have. Things should be back to normal for me next week. Thanks for bearing with me!

Hey look! More real Lime and (non stoned) Violet! First off, sound quality. They had issues with the cheapo microphone they've been using for 3 years now. But at least it has kicked V's butt so much that she is actually going to set up the mixer. *snort* I've heard that before.

WARNING: The Gross Meter is high for this episode. Seriously. V tells about her Boobies Woe story.

They talk about snuggling with sea cows, being assaulted by dolphins, and they even delve into talk about Quantum Physics.

There is usually just crazy times two for the podcasts, this one though, there is crazy times four. Not even kidding. But on the plus side, there is real Lime! And David (as promised) from The Sweater Project. I'm not sure if he was put down anyone's shirt while at Stitch n Bitch, but I do know that one of the doggies got a good hello in. As a warning though, they started drinking before recording, and they were also hopped up on caffeine, and then....well yea. You remember the Barking Sheep episode? This was also.... interesting.

They are talking about all things dirty including balling, re-balling, foreplay with balls, sticky balls, all things kinky, and more. All of that was about knitting though, but that was pretty much it for the knitting content. But Miss V did get two awesome sounding books from Interweave.

If your mind is in the gutter, it's in good company. V's resides there permanently and Carin's quite often goes for extended visits. Let's just say that SSH needs to learn to use his other hand.

It's a shorter episode this week, still over an hour, but much less than usual. Carin has started a project, it's making her blue, literally not figuratively. V finished her 3 button wrap, it needs to be blocked, but with impending company the bed will be taken. Carin weighs in with the Des Moines Knitters Knit-In. She brings swag and stories.

Wishing Carin a belated birthday, there was pie and woecake. Some of us look forward to Valentines day, others dread Singles Awareness Day (SAD). There was breakfast of cheesey and baconey goodness that got licked off of the wrapper. No worries, the tater tots were shared. (Fast food breakfast is the best hangover cure, EVER). It seems as though Miss V has stress gooney eye, but Carin helps it heal just with her presence.

Carin is working on socks, socks, and more socks. Miss V is working on her stockinette wrap, but hadn't for a few days due to Teh Busy. It seems like everyone is planning a trip.

Beware of the yarn porn, it is dangerous (and RIP deadly).

Today's show includes, Carin getting a stove, Violet's trip from Hell, Bleeding Eye Barnacles, Carin shows us her knits & strips for us, and we say goodbye to some of Carin's knitted family. There is Book Porn, Handmade book porn, Jewelery porn, and a fiber sample kit that look amazing.

Happy 2009! This episode was actually recorded over two years, which might be why it's so long.

There is no yarn porn this episode, so you can take those credit cards out of the freezer, they're safe...for now. Miss Violet tells us all about her trips, and there is talk of an intervention because omg, Miss Violet has LOTS of sniffies.

Music is in honor of our dear, dear Violet. "Road Trip" by the Dust Rhinos. I'm thinking that they're Canadian considering that they mention a whole bunch of cities out West. I'm all about pimping the homegrown artists.

Don't worry about the original episode 77, it has apparently been damned to the ether by a Vito from Miss V. A Miss V Vito if you would.

This is a wonderful episode full of (among other things) boobs, victory laps, finished objects, yarn porn, Cheesy update, and frightening talk of Aliens and knitting needles. Oh and by the way, just for fun, let's have a poll in the comments section. Is "Toque" pronounced with an "O" as in the podcast, or with a "U"? Leave a comment on the blog (http://limenviolet.blogspot.com) and let's settle this once in for all.

We welcome a wonderous returning guest this week. Say hello to Eric everyone!

There really isn't much in knitting content this week, but oh dear the stories are quite interesting. There is clothing, boys, flashing postmen, a Plurk-planned wedding (who says you two need to meet? None of us said that), and sniffies and the Poe Club.

Music is "My Hair is Beautiful" by The Spoofinator. You should remember him from the "Princess Glow-Boob" episode, he did the spoof of Yellow that was used then. What can I say? I like parodies and spoofs.

So, go dance naked and knit (or spin), postmen everywhere seem to love it. At least that seems to be Miss.V's take on the world.

It's a shorter one this week, still over an hour, but not quite an hour and a half like most of the recent ones have been. But don't worry, it's still chalk full of randomness followed up by a bit of knitting.

There is yarn porn, and dog stories, and other stories, and some stuff about letter boxing, and omg MissV cleaned and got rid of stuff, including Wollmeise. *gasp* I know!

Music is "Let's All Pretend it's Christmas" by Dogs Must be Carried. And just so you know, from today (Nov 15) there are 39 days till Christmas. That means about 936 hours, and if you sleep about 7 hours a night, 663 awake hours, and if you work 8 hours a day, 5 days a week, there are about 447 awake non-work hours left to knit your Christmas presents.

Happy Halloween! I know it's a day late, but I was busy. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

We have a very special guest this week. She brought loads of Yarn Porn, and maybe a bit of the real stuff too. Suffice to say, this episode is NOT SAFE FOR LITTLE EARS. It also might not be safe in a place where laughter is not appropriate. I'm not talking little fits of giggles, I'm talking Gut Busting, Side Splitting, Fall on the Floor, Laugh Out Loud, Laughter. These girls are on a roll.

As a warning: Our special guest gets into some teary charity stuff about a really amazing sounding charity. So break out the tissues, but know that everything goes to great people, and comes from the most amazing charity knitters (all our love to you).

Coming to you all from "The Big Room" from back in the beginning of time, er, podcast, I meant podcast.

Carin only lies once, I think, I don't know, maybe she's a master liar so good that we never know when she's actually telling the truth or not. But Darling Miss V called her a liar, so I guess she is.

There is yarn porn and a thank yous, the contest results (congrats btw), and a couple times when they top out the mic, so it sounds kinda funky. But hey, we're knitters, we like funk don't we?

Christmas presents are received, we say a lot of thank yous, and then there are not ONE, but TWO boob stories.  (I hadn't realized that until the re-listen.  One would think we're obsessed, eh?)

Music is by the FUMP, and is called "Creative Commons Anthem".

Back next week!  Thank you to our most awesome sound goddess for getting our nonsense edited into some semblance of coherence, and Dave of Chub Creek for the awesome intro.

After a long, and knitful holiday, the girls are back with a show recorded just before Christmas.

We're sneaky that way, see.

In this episode:  Four rules for dating the misses, a lot of holiday sticking, and a scintillating discussion about world economics.  Or at least two of those.

We also yap about the results of Lime's home visit by the ghosthunters, and talk about why V will never, ever be mistaken for a cowgirl.

We revisit some of the highpoints in the L&V journey (and a few lowpoints -- I mean, eeeegh....hairy moley man....), too.

Music is by Worm Quartet, and is called "Hair on my Soap", which is probably funny only to us, given that that's one of the reasons Turtleboy gave for breaking up with Miss Lime.  No, seriously.  Only that was a hair from her *head*, while she was IN THE SHOWER WITH HIM.  (Insert eye-roll from V here...)  Red flags abound.

Post forthcoming for those of you not on Ravelry yet with a picture of the famed Sexy Turkey Hat (which, by the way, YES, the FIL WORE TO CHURCH.  V's going to get a cramp in her eyes from all the rolling they're doing tonight.).

Thank you for a wonderful fifty episodes, folks.  We wouldn't have done it without you.

Artists played in this special musical episode:

The Limeybirds, "Christmas Song" and "Charity's Wish"
Don't Hug Me, "Christmas Cheese Polka"
Tom Smith, "A Pirate Christmas"
Rad Dudes, "Christmas in Malibu"
The High Balls, "A Fistful of We Three Kings"
Santa Claus (no, seriously), "Sick of Christmas"
The Alice Project, "Regifting"
Cookie Cutter Girl, "Ham for the Holidays"
Gary Sundblad, "Ya You Betcha"
Bubble, "Christmas Here on Mars"
Robert Lund, "Nothin' But Spam"
and the mammoth one,
The Great Luke Ski, "Fanboy Christmas II: The Wrath of Claus"

Happy knitting, and happiest of holidays. :)

(p.s.  I couldn't find ANY good hannukah songs.  I tried.  They were either too dirty for even OUR delicate sensibilities, or...well...they kinda sucked.  Sorry, y'all who are knitting for the festival of lights rather than the big birthday.)

With the addition of the lovely GoddessGwen the SoundChick to our staff of <s>minions</s>...er...<I>valued employees</I>, another episode of L&V is ready for your download.  It was SUPPOSED to be a mini-episode to tide y'all over until the Big Fiftieth Episode, but V got yappy.  She does that.

Carin's back, and we chat about letterboxing, Pink Commandos and Drag Queens, and answer the burning question of whether or not Ninja Bunnies' shuriken smell like carrots.  We show off some socky goodness on ebay and bust some teenagers gettin' bizzeee in a parking lot, and offer some holiday cheer by rayko/KRB entitled "The 12 Strippers of Christmas" just for your holiday pleasure.  No pun intended.

Our big 50th episode with Lime will be up next week.  Thank you all for sticking with our own particular brand of Crazy for this long.  We loves you.

Aaaaand, we're back!

This time, Lime talks about what she's knitting (Violet skips hers since this episode was recorded literally one day after the last episode, making it pretty much a moot knitting point to discuss the same thing as the day before.), the girls yap about fiber, and magic buttons.  Violet shares the meaning of true love, involving clippers, and Lime shares her haunted mansion.

We'll have links to the two books we review when the show notes go live, too. (<span style="font-style:italic;">The Best of Interweave Knits</span> and <span style="font-style:italic;">Folk Bags</span>, if you're wanting to find them sooner.)

We'll be back next week with Carin in the copilot's seat, and *hopefully* back on a semi-weekly schedule after the holidays.  (Violet is knitting as fast as she can, after deciding to handmake a few gifts, and you all understand about the Crazy that IS holiday knittin'.)

Song is by our favorites, Possible Oscar, and is called "This is how we recycle".  Sorry in advance for getting it stuck in your head.  Again.

Well, folks...there's now even more evidence that I should NOT be allowed around computers at any time, for any reason.  While editing the last podcast, I managed to save over the raw-files for the next two.  A fact which I didn't find out until Tuesday, when I pulled the OLD 48 up to edit it and give you some fun content to listen to.

Let us just say that there was much tequila fondling in the moments just past the discovery, and speak of it no more.

In a panic, I called up Carin, who graciously came over and <S>gave me a lot of crap about it</s> recorded a new episode with me.  And here 'tis!

This episode, Violet gets a new dog, a new autograph and some new yarn, and Carin waxes poetic about her trip to see the Yarn Harlot bearing a little squirrelly friend.  And best of all, I was able to NOT record over the bit with Lime's birthday party drunken phone call, so that's at the end for all to enjoy.  (I even bleeped out the F words. Ahem.)

OMG, she is SO going to kill me.  Just sayin'.

New show notes coming from KitAdmin, as soon as I figure out how to add her to the bloggybits. :)

Enjoy!

Squee!  New episode today. :)

A couple of apologies are in order:  First, to y'all for making you wait so long.  It was recorded on the fifth of September, and things?  OMG CRAZY.  Between new dogs and unexplained illnesses and a general audacity-phobia, it's been way, way too long.  There's another one in the hopper, coming up this next week, and yet *another* one that'll be up as a catch-up episode with Lime that's about 2.5 hours long, coming the week after (or possibly also next week, if I get my other stuff done. :>).

Because this was recorded so long ago, the news is a bit stale.  I tried to cut things that were a little out of date -- like the Wollemeise shop opening up, and Teyani's accident, and the now-not-so-brand-new Daily Chum being live -- but that left about four minutes of podcast, and all of it was us discussing Phoebe's shaved butt.  While funny, this didn't qualify as a podcast proper for me.  Go figure.

And if you ever wanted to hear what it sounds like around here when I find new yarn?  Like, really fabulous new yarn?  You'll hear it here this week.  Oh, but seriously.

Second, I didn't have my notes ready on this show, so I didn't have the band name for the song.  It's Possible Oscar, though, which I totally SHOULD have known, because I LOVE THEM SO MUCH.  I would bear their lovechildren.  Seriously.  This week's song is "Captain Mal" and there is.....*drumroll*....a DANCE.  See below.  Sorry the pictures take for-freakin'-ever to load, too.

THE CAPTAIN MAL DANCE (Lime & Violet is nothing if not interactive, see...):

<IMG SRC="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2094/1778347887_0b0651b3df_o.jpg">

<IMG SRC="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2195/1778347501_cd2d63d593_o.jpg">

And yes, they can be done right from your chair.  Don't ask me how I know this for certain.  I may or may not be doing it RIGHT NOW, in fact.

Ahem.

See y'all again soon!

FINALLY, a new episode!

Dr. Lime and Nurse Violet discuss tornados, an inherited growing operation, and an announcement of an ex-boyfriend's wedding sends Lime into a gratitude spurt like none other.  (It's a winkie-gossip kind of show this week.  Just warning you now.)

Violet's keyboard bites the dust in a marvel of physical science, Lime's backyard is where the deer and antelope play, and there is mention of a Very Tragic Fashion Choice.

Also in this ep: THE BIG ANNOUNCEMENT.  (no, she's not pregnant, married, or quitting.  Sorry to those of you who had those in the betting pool.)

The music this week is by Tom Smith, "Why I Won't Get You A Beer", and let me just say...I relate.  I'd rather knit that clean my fridge, but the fridge doesn't always agree.

Just when you thought you might be rid of us at last, we're back!

Kind of.

This week's show is an interview of Scout, of http://www.scoutsswag.com, all about growing up at ski school, dyeing yarn, vacationing with bongo players, and bigass spiders.  Oh, and a cheer that made liberal use of the BLEEP button.  (Is it sad that up until now, I didn't know I *had* a bleep button?  Don't answer that.)

New show coming hot on the heels of this one, too.  Stay tuned!

And go visit Scout, before she gets lonely and flies up here to shank me.

Sorry for the delay, folkses -- I've been uberthwarted in posting the last two weeks.  First, it was the heat that was causing lots of spontaneous combustion, and then the midwest got a little rain.  Like, an apocalyptic rain.  Like, IT BLEW THE SUNPORCH OFF OUR HOUSE kind of rain.

Luckily, we're not posting this one from Oz, just from the past.  Two weeks ago, to be specific.

In this episode:
* Surprise!  Carin bought yarn. (It's not for her.  And it's not that much of a surprise, I know.)

* We meet the Ballwinder What Makes BoobBalls.  (Say THAT five times fast...)

* There is an appearance by the fun bugs that are drippings wiss goo.  (The picture, by the way....SSH stole the package, so there's no scan.  But trust me, it's of questionable safe-for-workness anyway.)

* Kitchener Snitching on Violet, because she's broken.  At least according to Miss Carin.

* Non-cat-pukey lace thanks to Anne at Knit*Spot.

* THE SPAWN OF FLUFFY.  Oh, but seriously.

* Carin discusses the circumstances in which you can give a tracheotomy with a Bic pen, and falls under the spell of Dale.

* Violet has an imaginary monkey and some Yarntini love, and meditates briefly on rumors of Shannon Okey's sex life.

And much, much more.

Special thanks to Robert Lund for use of his "99 Words" song (warning: DO NOT DRINK ANYTHING WHEN IT STARTS.  I'm tellin' ya now, I'm not responsible for ruined keyboards....), and to Dave of Chub Creek for the intro and intro music.

And a GIANT thanks to Janet Szabo of Big Sky Knitting for the amazing book to review.  Do check it out and pick yourself up a copy.  It's already spawned one project in this house, and will probably inspire many, many more.

Two more shows coming, as soon as I can get 'em edited!  (An interview that you won't want to miss, and another weekly show with Lime-o-La's BIG announcement.  It's sunny now, with no sign of tornadoes or monsoons, so hopefully, it'll be very soon. :>)

I know this week's show is...well...LAST week's show.  And I'm way late.  And I apologize.  This past week's launch of <A HREF="http://limenviolet.com/blog">The Daily Chum</A>, along with two go-'rounds with migraines and SHINGLES (SSH is all Poxy at the moment) made for some slow editing.

But we're back with Lime & Carin and a very stoned V (first migraine, lots of vicodin...) talking about life, the universe, rats, and knitting, with a nice little diversion on why it sucks to be the firstborn.  (You don't get away with *anything* compared to your younger siblings, trust me.)

This week, we're hiring an interim admin, so the show notes for the last few shows will be up post haste, and I really do apologize for getting this week's song stuck in your head.  In advance.  Because I know it will, and I'm sorry.  Marginally sorry, mind you, because it's hilarious, but still sorry.  It's by Robert Lund, and it's called "You've got Hogwarts".  So, so sorry.

KnitWars now has a permanent invitation code, and you can get all that information over on <A HREF="http://limenviolet.com/blog">the blog</A>, and there's a little bit of team-driven fun gearing up to happen over there, so if you haven't been dubbed a shaman or a druid or a fighter or a wizard yet -- you might want to hop on over asap. :)

Also -- <A HREF="http://limenviolet.com/shop">the shop is updated once again!</A>  And with summertime speeding toward a close, it's about time to start thinking about your cold-weather sock wardrobe.  I'm just sayin'.

Get this week's show here:

So there's a little surprise for you here, since the last show was eaten Wednesday night by Thor.

Oh, but seriously.  Big power outage.  Several hours.  Podcast file go *poof*.

Apparently, V took this as an excuse to travel.  Watch out for wombats and cannibals, and learn more about the Yarn of Destiny.  And Wollmeise.  OMG, the Wollmeise...  And we don't spoil Harry Potter for the rest of you, either.  Just mention that fangirling is okay; but fanboying on fangirls' hot costumes is kinda eeeghy.

Music is by Possible Oscar, and is called "Talk Nerdy To Me".  There will probably be more Possible Oscar in our future -- it was hard to pick just one for tonight's show, and they all had me rolling on the floor.  Totally.

The books we talked about:

The Twisted Sisters Knit Sweaters, by Lynne Vogel, who brought us the Twisted Sisters Sock Workbook of legend and lore.

and finally:

Twelve Bags Fulled, by Terry L. Ross, who signed my copy because she r0xx0rs.

Have a great week, folks.  There may or may not be a show on Wednesday, depending on how hot it is.  (Since it's technically Monday now, it's not likely we'd get much knitting done in the interim anyway, right?)  And with Lime headed back to the spit, heat's a factor.

Only four days later than planned (due to some maaaaajor editing -- can you believe we talked for two and a half *hours*??  Okay, so you probably *can*....), the new episode is live, featuring special guest Beth, from Doodlebirds Creations, who came to stay for a few days this past week.

Poor Beth didn't stand a chance.  We took her to Personal Threads, our LYS on steroids, and her Stash Enhancement eXpedition was a rousing success.  Apparently, when she wants the S. E. X., she GETS the S. E. X!

Music this week is by Paul and Storm (again, they *rule*...), and is called "Your Love Is..."  We figured what we really needed was a dose of sweetness and light...uh...Lime & Violet style.  Ahem.

Here's the two books we mentioned:
<A HREF="http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0743292642?ie=UTF8&tag=dreamdeep&link_code=as3&camp=211189&creative=373489&creativeASIN=0743292642"><IMG SRC="http://ec1.images-amazon.com/images/I/21C428FE1YL._AA_SL160_.jpg"></A>
which is the book that is prompting V to give up her stashing ways.  (HAHAHAHA.)

and

While Lime is in Fiji hunting mermaids, Eliza and Carin discuss the imminent second coming of the cupcake liner of doom, theme thongs, and buffalo roadkill.

We listen along as Carin goes mad for bags and creates a new spinner, and go along for the ride as Eliza visits the frog pond.

There is much yarn pr0nage, as usual, and a book review of this:
<A HREF="http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1931499896?ie=UTF8&tag=dreamdeep&link_code=as3&camp=211189&creative=373489&creativeASIN=1931499896"><IMG SRC="http://g-ec2.images-amazon.com/images/I/31R9tCXFtwL._AA_SL160_.jpg"></A>

Aaaaaand, we're back!  This time, Carin sits in for Lime, who is apparently travelling around the world and back, missing Eliza's birthday.  See how she is?  We still don't have Knitter's Connection footage, due to Eliza(Violet)'s insane computer memory, and there is much by way of dog panting.

Also, Carin waves her geek flag AND fits into tiny sweaters, plus finds out what happens when good dogs attack balls.  Eliza laments pattern errata, discusses yarn binging on a GINORMOUS scale, and admits to a little problem with sniffing yarn.

Before we list up the books we talk about this episode, I also want to mention that it was a little late when we found out about Annie Modesitt's pattern for a very worthy cause, and we didn't get to talk about it, but suffice it to say that it's a gorgeous pattern and worth every penny of the cost, plus about a zillion dollars.  So if you have a heart, <A HREF="http://www.modeknit.com/blog/">go read and buy one or ten</A>.  And <A HREF="http://www.weloveanniemodesitt.blogspot.com/">visit the blog outpourings of Annielove</A>.  She completely deserves it.

Unexpected Knitting, by Debbie New
which has totally changed the way we're looking at knitting.

Unfortunately, the new Prudence Mapstone book isn't on Amazon yet, but once we find a good link, we'll pass it along.

oh, and an update:
Since this was recorded, we got the news that the shop is a go.  This will make much more sense when you listen to the episode.  AND we have two other big announcements in the very near future.

Sorry it's been so long, y'all -- now that June's over, we can get back to the business of business as usual!  Expect new episodes on Thursdays from here on out for a while, and we'll serve 'em up weekly.

The good news is that there will be two shows instead of just one.  Squee!

Oh, man, were we ever tired when we were recording this week.

There's the usual yarn pr0n for your viewing pleasure, a cameo by Miss Tara of thedyeingarts.com, and a whole lot of stinky bellybutton.  Because you know, tired or not, we have to have some randomness in our lives or we go (more) insaaaaane.

I'm just sayin'.

Two things:

1.  I lied in this episode.  The podsafe music network is now BACK! It's up (and much faster) at http://music.podshow.com, and we have music from Paul & Storm, entitled "Epithets", which made me giggle immensely.

2.  We're working on a method to make our filesizes smaller.  That's why this episode will download so fast it'll make your modem catch fire.  But it also did a number on the sound quality in a few places.  It's because I compressed it AFTER we recorded.  By next week's show, you shouldn't be able to tell a difference, and sound will be back to normal.  Just wanted to mention it in case you notice a huge difference and wonder why in tarnation we decided to broadcast from inside a large tin box.

I have some books for you this week, but we forgot to mention them. Bellybutton funk just got right in the way.  I'll post them to the blog later this week, though.

Have a great week!  Go knit some socks!

No suicidal fish in this episode, sorry.

However, we do have a Christopher Lambert Free Zone where Daddy (aka The Platonic Boyfriend) answers the burning question of what happens if you knit a cape spun out of werewolf fur.

Oh, but seriously.

Music is "We Put the Fun Back In Funeral" and I have no idea who it's by.  Why?  Because the podsafe music network is *down* for a while, and won't let me look it up.  Once I know, I'll let you know.  (It might be the Spy Surfs, but don't hold me to that.)

STAY TUNED TO <A HREF="http://limenviolet.blogspot.com">THE BLOG</A> for information on the Sleepover.  I'm battling some kind of alabama mutant flu that Platonic Boyfriend transmitted like a Typhoid Mary of Yarn, and won't have the final hotel info until probably Thursday.  But you'll see it here, first. :)

Episode runtime: around 1:20:00.  (It's still parsing, or I'd tell you an exact time.)

Because, see -- if you're focusing on the fact that we're talking about stripper poles and blow-up doll massacres, sleepovers, and suicidal GothFishies...you won't notice that GIANT PILE OF YARN IN THE CORNER that we may or may not have just purchased.  We're taking the fifth.

And we do talk about yarn and knitting a little, too.  About our crack dealer bringing over our favorite roving.  Loyal listeners who send us Sea Silk (and for which we'll totally name our first children "Janice", so we're hoping they're girls, because explaining to husbands why our boychild is named "Janice" might get dicey.)  Chumfests with sock yarn sharks who leave bloody wakes where casual surfers have been.  And even the void that's created when one cleans out a fiber stash.  We DO talk about it.  We're just hoping you notice all the other stuff, so nobody asks what we're going to DO with all that fiberliciousness.  Ahem.

Come on over to <A HREF="http://limenviolet.com/mb">the message boards</A> for some discussion about the Sleepover, which is happening from June 15th to the 17th (not the 14th to the 16th, like I dumbassedly said in the podcast, being date-challenged and all).  They're organizing car pools and we'll be announcing the venue here in a few days.  It's going to be a BLAST.  (with even more opportunities for yarn acquisition, I might add....)

Listen to us here, or get your fix with iTunes.
(runtime: 1:30:00.  We really need to shut up a bit.)

Just don't mention the sockyelephant in the corner. :)

Yay!  After Lime's week in Work Hades, we've returned to the mic to talk about such socially-relevant topics as dropped stitches, vintage Kirk, the 3 bobbit limit (which I only heard during sound-editing or I'd have soooo given Lime more crap about), knitting implants, kittens held hostage, yarnesia, square states, and the fact that Lime appears to be breeding fiber in her hair.

Also, we issue an invitation to a Lime & Violet Slumber Party of Dooom.

There's so much yarn pr0n this time that you may well find yourself too poor for ramen.  Luckily, there's recycled fridge mold!  Ahem.

Music is by Paul & Storm, and is called "Other Places Jimmy Hoffa Isn't", and our Knitting Muso did our RoboLime and MechaViolet intro.  Our typical intro is by Dave of Chub Creek, of course.  We still think he's cute.

There is a GIANT <A HREF="http://limenviolet.etsy.com">etsy store update</A> on Friday, at 11 a.m. Central time.  Giant.  Huge.  Like, scary-huge.  Just thought you might want to take the day off work to stalk it.  (Is that better?  People keep telling us we need to give advance notice, and there.  Now we have. :))

Two books that Miss V forgot to talk about this week when talking about the insane, obscene amount of Falling Down And Going Boom she did this week:

Natural Knitter, by Barbara Albright, who actually got too sick during this book's production to continue. :(   It's got some really great projects, and the photography is amazing.</A>

Only a day late this time, Lime & Violet are back to get you in yet MORE trouble with your yarn addictions.  Lots of yarn pr0n this time, folks.  Lots and lots of pr0n...

And Lime explains why sometimes, a bottle of tequila is the only thing that gets her through a workday.  Oh, but seriously.

We also announce not one, but TWO (TWO! MUA-HA-HA!) ways for you to win stuff from the Lime and Violet girls:  The midpoint of the <A HREF="http://www.flickr.com/groups/lvsm2007/">Lime & Violet Sock Marathon 2007</A> is coming up, and there are some fabulous shawl pins from <a href="http://mysticspiral.com">Mystic Spiral Studio</A> up for grabs (with some other surprises, possibly), and the girls announced <A HREF="http://www.flickr.com/groups/lvripoffcontest/">THE RIP OFF CONTEST</A> this week, as well, where you can win a copy of Tink's "Twist n' Lace" pattern and some of <A HREF="http://lisaknit.com">Lisa Souza's</A> hardtwist yarn that is To Die For.  Details over on the Flickr group, linked above.

Lime's rock star moment took place over this book:

This episode should probably be titled "The Ep That Killed Miz V", because, folks, it just about did just that.

For some reason, there was a TON of background noise that wouldn't go away, and when I got rid of the noise, suddenly, we were robots talking very softly inside a tin can.  For six and a half hours today, I tried to fix it, and aaaaalmost gave up for the week, but people over on the messageboards said that Robotic Podcasters are kind of fun, and who can resist that?

So I apologize in advance for the sound quality.  I tried to amplify it wherever I could, but all that seemed to do is make us sound even MORE like we're robotic space-faring ghosts on the inside of a metal whale.  Next week should be back to our usual listening fare.

Also, I was soooo caught up in the yarn pr0n this week that I completely spaced talking about the book I promise in the 'cast to talk about.  I got my HOT LITTLE HANDS on a copy of "MORE SENSATIONAL KNITTED SOCKS" by Charlene Church, and let me tell you -- I want her babies.  Or her sock wardrobe.  Seriously.  There are even socks made from our own Lisa Souza's yarn!  It's sooo awesome!  So awesome that I'm overusing exclamation points, even! It's off preorder and is available now at amazon -- just click on over to get your own squee-worthy copy:

Lime's back, after returning from her sojourn!  Which makes us all undeniably happy. :)

She reveals all the good stuff she bought while she was gone, and we sling more yarnpr0n than a McDonald's Grilljock slings burgers.  We talk socks and cascade and trip stories and camping out on Sherri's lawn at the Loopy Ewe, and play a song by Tom and Doug called "Gangsta Knitta".  Oh, but seriously.

Also, one thing I forgot to mention:  It's out it's out it's out!!!

We talked about her a little today on the podcast, and Stephanie Pearl-McPhee's book is ready for ordering!  Yay for the Yarn Harlotty Goodness!

Lime has disappeared.  She's currently gallavanting around Florida, doing some yarn shopping and hanging in the sun, leaving the poor Miz V to fend for herself.

So message boarder and avid listener, Alcariel, steps in to fill the big limey shoes this week, bringing with her stories of going out in her underwear, her psycho fluffball of fur and rage, and a little bit about what happens when butts attack.

Do we attract the weird ones or what? :)

It's a looooong show this week (an hour and a half plus...see what happens when we don't talk for so long??) so there's no music, just a little sound file made by listener Michelle G and her stupendous love of cheese.  Since we, too, love cheese, it was perfect.  Thank you, Michelle!

I didn't get to them, but I wanted to highly recommend two books that I've been <s>drooling on</S> casually flipping through in my spare time:

<a href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1400097452?ie=UTF8&tag=dreamdeep&linkCode=as2&camp=1789&creative=9325&creativeASIN=1400097452">
<IMG SRC="http://images.amazon.com/images/P/1400097452.01._AA_SCMZZZZZZZ_.jpg">
Cables Untangled: An Exploration of Cable Knitting</a>
Two words: EYE. CANDY.  Totally inspirational, especially for the stitch dictionary at the end.  And the other IS a stitch dictionary of cables:

<a href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1931543895?ie=UTF8&tag=dreamdeep&linkCode=as2&camp=1789&creative=9325&creativeASIN=1931543895">

The Vogue Knitting Stitchionary Volume Two: Cables: The Ultimate Stitch Dictionary from the Editors of Vogue Knitting Magazine (Vogue Knitting Stitchionary Series)</a> />
Oh, holy cow.  I already see a few that might have to be modified for socks.

Yeah, it's that good.

We'll be back to normal (well, normalISH.  As normal as we get...) next week, with Miss Lime back in the copilot seat, where she can tell us all about getting to meet Shari at the Loopy Ewe.  (I'm not bitter.  Hrmf.  Not at all.)

Back home in front of the mic, this week, the misses Lime and Violet take a look at baby blankets of dooooom, a slipping Enabler status, stealing from Ra to feed Men, and discuss Chevron Scarves.

Somehow, that all adds up to more than an hour.  Ramble much?  Ahem.

Books we mention this episode:

And we're back!  Happy VD!  Er...wait.  You know what we mean.

This week, we look at things like sock yarn and wool pr0n, like usual, but also delve into such topics as Lime's best grade ever, moose lovin', and a treatise on why you shouldn't throw your money at mean people.  Oh, and Lime sings a song.  Not the boobie song, but a moose song.  Trust me, it's our usual brand of Weird.

The books we talk about this episode are:

Lime and Violet are back rockin' the net-ual airwaves, discussing an ADD-like amount of randomness this week.  Ukelele Love, superbowl parties, toe-up reluctance, WAFFLES, getting scruued, much talk from a crazy two-butted pig man (oh, but seriously), rubbing crabs on your feet, princess pudding wrestling, sheep therapy, lying <I>badly</I>, the BOOK!, and a small moment of Lime's sudden self-awareness....where else could you get <I>all that</I> in an hour?

Only on Lime & Violet.  But seriously.

Music is by Derek Sonderfan, and is called, I kid you not, "Women Are Insane", and it nearly had me peeing myself in giggles, while SideShow Husband nodded and pointed at me a lot.  Ahem.

Music this week is by the Fabrications, and is called "Bacon".  Any song with BACON as its title is so. totally. Lime & Violet that it's not even funny.

Just when you thought it was safe to go back to the iPod, Lime & Violet come raring back atcha with yet another hour's worth of yarny insanity!

(Miss V would like to note for the record that she should <span style="font-style:italic;">totally</span> write the copy for the backs of DVD jackets after that last paragraph, with its cunning use of an exclamation point, no less!  Now, twice!  Three!  This could go on all day.)

This week, the girls give a boobrock update (with a side of Afrin Issues), discuss holy angelic yarn which has revealed itself to Lime, talk a whole lot about sweaters Vi's knitting despite the sock marathon, and shovel up so much yarn porn that you may never dig your way from under the stash.

Music this week is from America's FAVORITE Dragapella Beauty Shop Quartet, the Kinsey Sicks, located at http://www.kinseysicks.com/.  The song is "I wanna be a Republican", and is from their current show, running in San Francisco.  You should buy the album, seriously.  Amazing harmony, and funny as all get out.

Lime also regrets to mention that her blogger is being bitchy, and therefore, there were no show notes last week.  Vi says she has it fixed, but she's been known to be technologically overconfident before, too.  Complete links should be available shortly.

Love and nasal objectification,

This week, Lime & Violet come storming back with a boobie update (it appears Mama Boobrock had babies and are really the alien eggs Violet feared all along...), some naked knitting time over the holidays, and one profoundly gassy dog.

You've gotta love ringing in your new year with Lime &amp; Violet, right...?

A few things:
*  Song is "Take Off Your T Shirt (if you can't name a song by the band that's on it)" by WWIII.  I can not TELL you how many times I've wanted to play that song in the ears of some emo kid with a bad unisex haircut and a Metallica T-Shirt.  If you weren't alive when Ride the Lightning came out...don't wear the shirt.  Sheesh.  :)

*  Books!

runtime: 1:15

This week, we get some assistance from the dogs in discussing subjects such as strange items that end up in someone's body on New Year's Eve (for which you can knit cozies), lots and lots of yarn porn over at etsy, Miss Lime's betrayal of the Vesper Roving Goodness, and Miz Violet's little...uh...holiday knitting coup.  Involving ponies.  Nuff said.  (Let's just say that section is NOT overly kidlet safe.  Ahem.)

Music this week is from the mydols and is called "Merry Freakin' Christmas".  The end bumper is by  Smart Bomb Radio, and is entitled, "Cthulhu Claus is Coming to Town".  Both can be found on the podsafe music network at http://music.podshow.com.  Support independently produced music!

Hope you all have an amazing holiday, whatever you celebrate, and that Santa visits you with much wool.  And no herpes.  (Long story, let's just not go there.  And no, that's not about me OR Lime....)

runtime: right around 1.5 hours again. (we shouldn't take weeks off, evidently....)

This week, we're back at the mic with a Chesticle Update, holiday purchasing (and not just for gifts), and a little story about our run-in with Deirdre Flint, who just happens to have been mackin' on Lime's man....

Oh, and Lime's lost her mind.  That will be self evident in the first 30 seconds.  She holds it together for the rest of the 'cast, though, so we must give her mad props for hiding her insaKNITy.  Oh, but seriously.

Thank you again to everyone who's written, called, sent carrier pigeons and packages and male strippers, or who has donated or bought Lisa Souza's fabulous "Violet's Pink Ribbon" yarn.  You all rock my socks off.  And make me cry.  In a good way.

Come on over to the message boards if you haven't already -- we're all just as crazy as Miss Lime over there:

So after a week off to clean up shop (literally) and a metric acre of turkey (unfortunately, probably also literally), we're back to rock the mic with some talk about things like knitting schizophrenia, girls and math, and the little starry thub-thub hearts that Lime seems to be sporting in her eyes these days.

Also, there are promises of a downloadable PDF of a huuuuuge list of gifts that you can pounce your family for for the holidays, and our top three from the main categories -- books and yarn -- discussed at length.

Music this week is "Never Trust a Panda", because you know you'll fall for his black panda eyes...

Watch the blog (http://limenviolet.blogspot.com) later today for the aforementioned PDF, and a list of thankyous that's as long as our arms.  (Depending on font size, that is.)

And at the time of this writing, there are only 21 items left in the etsy store.  We'll be trying to remedy this ASAP.  Apologies again on the sexy packaging -- it's not as L&V Pretty as we'd like it to be, but we were a bit overwhelmed. :)

THANK YOU for being here, for listening, and for all the feedback.  Who loves ya, baybee?!

p.s.  Mea Culpa:  It's Under a Fiber Moon that talks about japanese rope bondage, not Knit With Cat Hair, who swears she never talked about bondage in her 'cast at all.  Despite the lack of freakiness, we love that one, too.  Tell her to come back. :)

Just when you thought it was safe to go back to your iPod, Lime & Violet are back to discuss the finer points of knee nipples, the perils of Jaeger/Jagger, and why they should just put the latte down and back away slowly.

Platonic Boyfriend makes an appearance to talk to y'all about such things as keeping the power in the ovaries, errant facial hair, and knittin' with balls.  He conveniently sidesteps the question of why he's abandoning us for greener, more southern pastures, though.  Still, we can brand him but good before he leaves....right?

And finally, our song by Derek Sonderfan, "Snake", will help you eradicate those other, more painful, songs that circle around your brain.  There are no instructions, however, for ridding yourself of this one.  At least it's a good song.  Ahem.

An hour and a half of digressionary fun this week, as we're back to our usual format.  We go over the time and space vortex that IS Wal-mart, do some store reviews from Miz V's trip out east, find out whether or not doing an entire sock in 24 hours is even possible, and decide to get help with our fiberporn addiction.

Yeah, right.... we're addicts and proud of it.  (to fiber, at least....)

Music this week is by Psychostick, and is called BEER!.  Intro is, as usual, done by the immensely-sexy-himself canadian-of-doom, Dave, of Chub Creek.  Special thanks to Cheeky Redhead for using that Odeo link over there in the right-hand links bar.  (If you're reading this at the blogspot site: http://limenviolet.blogspot.com, that is...)

Stay tuned to this bat-channel (would that be Sheep-Channel?) on Friday for a whole lot more yarnporn from the last two weeks, and as always, hop over and see us on the messageboards:

Love y'all!  See you next week!

 Happy Halloween, everybody!

This episode, outside of our normal bits, is a special LIME AND VIOLET RADIO THEATER PRODUCTION of TILL BILL.  You just have to listen to get it.

ALSO:

CONTEST!  Hidden within this episode are more than a dozen references to horror movies, both new and old.  List those in an email to violet(at)limenviolet(dot)com.

If you have them all right, your name will go in a drawing for a skein of yarn from <A HREF="http://scoutsswag.com">Scout's Swag</A>, which she graciously donated to the cause without knowing what kind of crazy stuff we were going to come up with in order to give it away.

You have until November 15 to get your answers in.  Drawing will be held on November 18th, and the winner notified shortly thereafter.

Have a spooooooky Halloween!

Lime & Violet head back to the studio to engage in another hour and fifteen minutes of tasteful journalism on such topics as boobies and dogs licking their own behinds.  And there's knitting and yarn pr0n, as per usual, along with a whole lotta spinning.

And since we're on the subject of boobies, healthy ones are a MUST.  This is national breast cancer month, so if you're over 35, go put the girls in a smoosher for science, and if you come back clear (and in slight pain), hop on over to The Pink Auctions at http://pinkauctions.livejournal.com to buy some great art and make a donation to the Susan G. Komen Foundation at the same time.  There's even knitterly stuffs!

As always, thank you for sharing your lives with us, even if it's through the headphones of an iPod.  We love you.  And your boobies.

In which our heroines make a return to the airwaves after a (not so) long absence, bringing with them yarn and needles and tales of passes by mulleted boys gone awry.

WILL the girls be able to ward off the evil Joe Dirt?
WILL the projects be completed before they no longer fit?
HOW will they tempt you, fair listener, with even MORE YARN PORN?

Tune in to episode #14: Dork Repellent....and SEE!

In which we find the party in the middle, and find that it's in the middle of the woad.  (And no, that's not a typo.)

Songs this week are "Cthulhu is my copilot" by SmartBombRadio and "Woad" by Fugli.

Come see the show notes posted tomorrow (or the next day) at http://limenviolet.blogspot.com or come visit the message boards at http://limenviolet.com/mb/.  All the cool people do it.

And Lisa Souza actually WILL cure your halitosis.  Don't ask me how I know.

Finally done with the editing for this mammoth episode, Miss Violet would like to take a moment to apologize for the sound quality in part of this episode.  Apparently, tiny little gremlins have taken over her computer and have decided to make her sound editing program crash at random.  She thinks that perhaps Microsoft is behind it.

That said, this episode is all about socks, platonic boyfriends, not-so-platonic kiltboys, and how Lime and Violet both learned to never leave a beer unattended, even when they are in your hand at the time.

At right around 40 minutes, there is a very serious topic broached, complete with the interviews that decided to crash Violet's <s>sanity</s>...er, I mean, sound program.  Most likely, you've heard the flap about price-fixing, but we've done some homework to help explain, and to let you make some informed decisions about where you spend your yarncash.

As always, our show notes are at http://limenviolet.blogspot.com and the faboo message boards are at http://limenviolet.com/mb.

Back after a week off with some heeeyooooge announcements about sock yarn and socks!  We also discuss some upcoming goodness, knitting things until our eyeballs fall out, and so much yarn porn that it should be illegal.  A little treatise on how NOT to write eBay copy and an appearance by the wrangle-wrangler....and his little showman, too.  Come see the messageboards at http://limenviolet.com/mb or the blog o' announcement goodness at http://limenviolet.blogspot.com.

Well, we recorded while I was sick, and it's fairly obvious as we discuss things like nyQuil, sock yarn to die for, and quirks.  Oh, and we make Miss Lime blush seventeen shades of red.  Seriously.

Show notes available tomorrow at http://limenviolet.blogspot.com.  Come see us at the message boards at http://limenviolet.com/mb too!

Lime returns from a failed attempt, we hand out some artyarnporn, and rage against societal norms in this episode.  Oh, and there are a lot of spiders.  Smooshed and/or sucked-up ones, but lots of them.

Come visit the show notes tomorrow at http://limenviolet.blogspot.com, or come yack with us on the message boards at http://limenviolet.com/mb, or find us on myspace at http://myspace.com/limenviolet.  We're everywhere.  Omnipresent.  Like spiders.  *shudder*

This week, Lime and I get the date wrong, talk a little about yarn addiction, and discuss her burping problem.  And there's a whole lot of snakes.  In sweaters.  With belly button lint.  And a small discussion of pr0n.  Like you'd expect less from us.

Music is by Smallfish, "Bellybutton", and Hillbilly Dust's "Long Branch" opens the show...since I was a bad, bad podcaster and forgot to write that down whilst we were recording.  Both available at the podsafe music network.

Come see us at the <a href="http://limenviolet.com/mb">message boards</A> for some fun, and even though we announced it on this podcast, it seems someone has <A HREF="http://simpleknittedbodice.blogspot.com">beaten us to the punch</A> with the simple knitted bodice knitalong, so go join that one and feel free to keep talking about it with us, too, since I'm definitely still knitting it.  And knitting it.  And knitting it.  This is gonna take FOREVER.  :)

And here 'tis, folks, the fifth episode in the Lime & Violet podcast for the yarn obsessed.  This time 'round, we take a road trip/yarn crawl, stalk Brenda Dayne a bit more obsessively, make socks (and buy more sock yarn, heaven help us), and talk a bit about knitting at a fetish party.

Enjoy!

The episode in which we order (wait for it....) more sock yarn, get snippy with my husband about the dogs only to have him make an...uh...<I>unexpected</I> entrance, and we sing love songs to Brenda Dayne.

(Please don't sue us, Brenda.  We love you.  Really, we do.  But not in a stalkery way.  This week.)

Song this week by Deirdre Flint.  And if you stay tuned through the song, there's an outtake that was too funny not to post.

We're a bit early this week, since we're on a road trip on Friday to bring you more yarn pr0n.  No, really.

Episode 3 is up for your perusal.

This ep, we discuss yarn, of course.  And knitting.  And humping dogs, leatherboy manservants, and a little bit of animal activism gone horribly, horribly wrong.
